Demetrious PolychronDemetrious Polychron was born just outside the city limits and raised in Antioch, California. He began winning awards for writing and public speaking in junior high. His high school English and Creative Writing teachers anointed him a Poet and he wonthe National Forensics League's regional championships in Original Prose And Poetry. At eighteen his poetry was first published in North America in the Journal Of The National Forensics League. He graduated from Naval Nuclear Power School in Orlando, Florida and for four years worked as a power plant operator in the Engineering Department aboard the USS Enterprise (CVN-65). A combat veteran with three tours, he was part of the Tanker Wars of 1987-1988 in the Persian Gulf and Operation Preying Mantis in the Straits of Hormuz, which to this day is the largest Naval battle fought since World War II. Moving to Los Angeles, he became an internationally published journalist conducting interviews and writing features on a cross-section of inspiring people and cultural touchstone events. He has served on committees and boards for local and national political campaigns, charities and one arts foundation, The Alameda Writers Group, formerly the in-house writer's group for ABC/Disney. As the AWG's Executive Vice-President, he hosted weekly workshops and mentored dozens of poets, screenwriters and novelists. His first original feature-length screenplay "The Unknown Actor" tells the story of how Shakespeare became Shakespeare. It details the events which inspired the playwright's Great Tragedies Period and the writing of Hamlet, as seen through the eyes of the first actor who ever performed the role. This script became a semifinalist at the Slamdance Screenwriting Competition in Park City, Utah and the prestigious Nicholl Fellowships In Screenwriting, sponsored by the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts & Sciences.
