She is a Certified Texas Educator in the areas of Art (Grades EC-12), Technology Applications (Grades EC-12), and Classroom Generalist (EC-6). Since herretirement she has concentrated on illustrating and providing cover art for books as well as developing art for cards for those in Hospice Care. Herb once told her that one of his father's favorite sayings was, A turtle nev-er gets anywhere unless he sticks his neck out, and if he doesn't stick out his neck, then he misses the opportunities which were within his reach. She has adopted that as her motto and as a result develops great covers and illustra-tions for books. She will not start to illustrate a book until she has read the book, considered the audience, and looked at different ways to illustrate the concepts to ensure the read-er can visually comprehend the meaning of the text.
