Deborah DicksonMy name is Deborah Dickson "Dee Dee" Dickson, first-time author. I am a daughter, mother, grandmother, wife, and friend to many. My six grandchildren call me Grandma or "Dee Dee" and my love for them and my own grown children is unconditional. Familymeans everything to me.I have a passion for helping others, those being in our family, at work, and in the communities in which I live. I was taught in my early years about the importance of honesty, respect, and manners, and I have carried these traits throughout my life and instilled their importance to my children as they grew up.In my professional career, I worked for several public school boards (as well as municipalities and other private sector jobs) as a front-line worker, an administrative assistant within the elementary and secondary levels. In 2002, I earned a Certificate in General Social Work from Renison College/University of Waterloo and, since then, I have increased my social work knowledge through additional courses relating to mental health, trauma, caregiving, and dementia, among others. I became a Big Sister and am aligned with a 9-year-old student whom I see on a weekly basis sharing stories, playing games, and spending time together.Having lived in several communities throughout Ontario, Wingham is currently 'home'. My home is shared with my wonderful and supportive husband, Blair, and golden retriever, Winston. Following retirement, I spend my time walking, gardening, cooking, golfing, helping with fundraisers, volunteering, and giving back to the community."Always Kiss Me Goodnight" is based on my true story of heartbreak stemming from the loss of my mom when I was a young adult. I felt responsible for my three brothers, helped with household chores, and worked full time all while trying to navigate my own grieving journey.Losing my Mom at an early age has impacted my life in so many ways. I wanted to share my story and other resources to help parents and children, should they face a tragedy like the loss of a loved one.
