Dean MatthewsBorn on a farm just outside Oxford, England, in 1961, Dean's families' strong links to the land meant that he grew up with an inbred love of the countryside. However, it wasn't to last, and his family found themselves having to move into the city. Den's love of fantasy and adventure blossomed when his English tutor over a series of days read to his class, 'The Hobbit, ' this inspired him to write his own stories. He excelled in many sports as well as art, geography, history and story writing in English. On leaving school I didn't know which direction I was heading, and with a clear lack of direction, nearly joined the Navy. He enjoyes travelling, which included time working in Australia, and Germany, giving him the opportunity to discover new landscapes, all of which has inspired his writing.
