Davina FerreiraDavina A. Ferreira was born in Miami, Florida but grew up in Medellin, Colombia. She attended UC Irvine where she received her B.A. in Fine Arts, Drama. After graduating, Ferreira worked in Los Angeles as a theatre actor with the Bilingual Foundationof the Arts. In 2005, Ferreira met Sir Ben Kingsley and worked with him in her own one-woman show Illyria. As preparation for their project together, she attended The Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London (RADA) to pursue classical acting. After writing her own play Illyria, she began to write her first book, Take Me With You/Llévame Contigo, a bilingual compilation of short stories and poems of love. In June of 2008, Ferreira completed a program to receive a Spanish JournalismCertificate from UCLA Extension. Soon after graduating she worked for several Spanish media outlets in Los Angeles as an entertainment reporter before launching her luxury bilingual magazine ALEGRIA. Today, ALEGRIA has grown into a multi-faceted media brand. It encompasses print, digital and LatinX books and magazine publishing, event activations, digital content creation and marketing consulting for international brands looking to connect with the multicultural, bilingual, millennial consumer with international appeal. She has received The Rising Star Award, given to an entrepreneur under 35 by the prestigious National Latina Business Women Association, and the Latina of Influence Award by Hispanic Lifestyle magazine. Her latest book, Finding My ALEGRIA is an inspirational memoir, which she hopes will motivate young entrepreneurs around the world to pursue their dreams regardless of their circumstances.
