David L RodnitzkyDavid Rodnitzky is the founder of Agentic Shift, a consulting firm that advises marketing agency founders who are considering or actively conducting a sale of their agency business. David's marketing career began in 2000, when he accepted a job at Retals.com, an online property management start-up. At Rentals.com, David reallocated $50,000 a month of PR and branding spend to the nascent field of search engine marketing (SEM), building partnerships with GoTo.net (later Yahoo Search Marketing) and Google, and driving thousands of new visitors for pennies a click.In 2001, David joined FindLaw, the largest online legal site in the world. David continued his work in search engine marketing, negotiating a multi-year search advertising deal with MSN (including guaranteed third placement on the word "lawyer" for $.25 a click!). During David's tenure, FindLaw's online traffic grew to be one of the top 300 websites in the United States. In 2004, he was invited by Sheryl Sandberg to present to the entire Google advertising team on best practices in Google advertising.In 2004, David joined Adteractive, an online lead generation company. David increased the company's online marketing spend from $100,000 a month to over $1.5 million a month, developed an algorithm for SEM bid management, and invented several SEM strategies that became best practices in the industry, including the "Golden Corral" keyword management process.David joined Mercantila.com, an ecommerce drop shipper in 2007 as Vice President of Advertising. At Mercantila, David managed a 15-person team on two continents and built the first profitable marketing campaigns in the company's history.In 2008, David launched PPCAdBuying.com, later known as PPC Associates and, eventually, 3Q Digital. David started the agency in a coffee shop in Pacifica, California. Over a 13-year period running 3Q Digital, David's accomplishments include: ● Scaling the business to over 300 employees and more than $60 million annual revenue.● Increasing advertising spend under management to over $1.5 billion annually.● Expanding the company offerings from SEM management to full-service performance marketing.● Opening offices in over a dozen cities on three continents.● Co-creating the Alpha Beta Account Structure and Lin-Rodnitzky, Ratio methodologies that are widely used in the SEM industry.● Being recognized as Google's largest agency partner.● Being regularly quoted by The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, Washington Post, Newsweek, Entrepreneur Magazine, and numerous other publications.● Being awarded the University of Iowa's 2021 Alumni Entrepreneur of the Year.David sold 3Q to Harte Hanks in 2015, led a management buyout of the business in 2018, sold it to Erie Street and PSP Capital in 2018, and worked with his PE sponsors to sell 3Q to DEPT (a Carlyle Group Company) in 2022.In 2023, David launched Agentic Shift.
