David FaraoniBiography: Dr. Faraoni is an Associate Professor of Anesthesia at the University of Toronto, and a practicing pediatric cardiac anesthesiologist at The Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. In addition, he is an Associate Scientist n the Department of Translational Medicine at the Sick Kids Research Institute. Prior to that Dr. Faraoni was an Assistant Professor, in the Department of Pediatric Anesthesiology at Queen Fabiola Children's University Hospital in Brussels, Belgium. In 2014, he completed a PhD at the Free University of Brussels on 'Bleeding management in pediatric cardiac patients'. From October 2014 until June 2016, he was a Visiting Assistant Professor of Anesthesia at Harvard Medical School and Research Associate in the Department of Anesthesiology, Critical Care and Pain Medicine at Boston Children's Hospital. Dr. Faraoni is involved in both clinical management and research initiatives examining blood conservation in pediatric patients undergoing major surgical procedures. His expertise in pediatric blood management poised him as the author in the development of 2019 NATA (Network for the Advance of Transfusion Alternatives) Guidelines for "Patient Blood Management for Neonates and Children Undergoing Cardiac Surgery".
