David BronsteinDavid Ionovich Bronstein (19 February 1924 - 5 December 2006) was a Soviet and Ukrainian chess player. He was named International Grandmaster by FIDE in 1950 and narrowly missed out on the title of World Chess Champion in 1951. Bronstein was one of te strongest players in the world from the mid-1940s to the mid-1970s and was described by his peers as a creative genius and master of tactics.
