Dara J LurieA child of mixed race and religion, Dara Lurie grew up on the Upper West Side of Manhattan during the late 60's and 70's, attended Vassar College in the early 80's and migrated to Berlin, West Germany in the mid 1980s. There, she tended bar, wrote an performed in theater while living in different communities of squatters, Green Party activists, journalists, teachers and social workers. Witnessing the fall of the Berlin Wall in 1989 profoundly shaped Dara's world view.She now lives in New York's Hudson Valley where she teaches writing workshops.
