Daniel ButtryThe Rev. Dr. Daniel L. Buttry recently retired as the Global Consultant for Peace and Justice with International Ministries of the American Baptist Churches. From 2003 to 2020 he served helping Christians around the world to be more effective peacemaers, including in inter-religious conflicts. He has conducted conflict transformation trainings around the world, and in a few situations has been part of mediation teams between armed groups. He has written a number of books on topics such as church renewal, preaching and peacemaking, including Blessed Are the Peacemakers and Peace Warrior: A Memoir from the Front, and most recently We Are the Socks. His wife Sharon Buttry also served with International Ministries as the Global Consultant for Community Transformation. Together they wrote Daughters of Rizpah: Nonviolence and the Transformation of Trauma. Dan and Sharon live in Hamtramck, Michigan (Detroit). They are the parents of three and grandparents of one.
