Daniel BowlesTranslator Daniel Bowles is a literary scholar and musician. Born and raised in Louisville, Kentucky, he holds degrees from Vanderbilt University and Harvard University, where he received his doctorate in Germanic languages and literatures in 2011. Hs scholarly endeavors have earned him numerous fellowships and grants, including Fulbright, German Academic Exchange Service, and Whiting Foundation fellowships, leading him to additional study at the University of Regensburg, the Free University of Berlin, and the Humboldt-University Berlin. Beyond his research in contemporary German literature, satire, semiotic theory, gender studies, and music, Bowles is a teacher of literature, film, and language and a translator.
