Dana WandDana Wand moved with her family often in her childhood. Her favorite place to live was Florida, in a small rural setting near canals inhabited by manatees (aka SeaCows), alligators, water moccasins and various fish. Her pets included a squirrel monke named Harry, four turkeys, and two dogs. She loved reading and her family always kept encyclopedias, almanacs, magazines, and newspapers around. She looked forward to the Bookmobile making weekly stops, bringing new adventures she would act out in her play out of doors. They would spark her imagination to create some of her own stories, which carried on in her later life as mother and grandmother.
