D B MarshallBorn and raised in Miami, Florida, D.B. Marshall relocated to Atlanta, Georgia with high hopes to achieve the American dream. He graduated from Georgia Perimeter College with an associate's degree in Early Childhood Education. He later earned a bacheor's degree in Social Work with a concentration in Community Partnerships from Georgia State University. Upon graduation, he was accepted at Western Kentucky University's accelerated Master of Social Work program, awarded a full scholarship as a graduate research assistant, and earned his degree. A month later, D.B. enrolled in Virginia Commonwealth University's Public Policy and Administration doctoral program. Unfortunately his journey was short-lived. D.B. withdrew after being diagnosed with a rare disease-Focal Segmental Glomerulosclerosis (FSGS) Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD). He went through periods of grieving the mere thought of experiencing kidney failure. It left him feeling helpless, hopeless, confused, and scared. The emotional and psychological impact caused D.B. to internalize, worry, and question his worth, vitality, faith, and purpose. Through health education and application, D.B. stabilized the chronic illness and made a conscious decision to re-enroll in school to complete his Doctor of Social Work at Capella University. On October 1, 2018, D.B. birthed Love's Pursuit out of emotional hardship, love, and forgiveness. In a robust effort to change lives across the world, he dedicated his experiences, time, gifts, talents, and voice to empower others to live well. D.B.'s comprehensive wellness 4R Model to life encourages others to increase self-love, self-confidence, and self-awareness. In 2019, D.B. discovered his purpose and became an AAKP Ambassador to support, advocate, and engage communities and stakeholders for CKD patients worldwide. Read More Read Less
