She earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Sociology from Northeastern University, Boston, Massachusetts. She also earned a Masters' Degree in Human Services Administraton from the University of Baltimore, Coppin State University (CSU) Collaborative Program, Baltimore, Maryland. She enjoyed teaching Sociology as an Adjunct Professor at CSU for over 8 years. She worked diligently as a Certified Child Advocate and Court Liaison representative in Baltimore City for 18 years.
