Cheryl Woodruff-Brooks, MBA/MA, completed her first book, Chicken Bone Beach: A Pictorial History of Atlantic City's Missouri Avenue Beach (Sunbury Press) in 2017, which was nominated for a 2017 Literary Award with the Schomburg Center in New York City, used in classrooms at Purdue University and referenced in The Oxford Handbook of American Folklore & Folklife Studies. Cheryl has been involved in speaking engagements discussing segregated beaches including, Black Girl Beach Day, Stockton University, Rowan University, the Atlantic City Historical Museum, NAACP Conference, Congressional Black Caucus Conference, & the Afro Mermaid Summit. Cheryl's suite of literary includes Golden Beauty Boss: The Story of Madame Sara Spencer Washington and the Apex Empire, and The Story of Chicken Bone Beach, which was awarded best-selling book in the Children's Category with her publisher, Sunbury Press.
