Charles SalterCharles E. Salter was born in Ocilla, Ga., June 9, 1933, and lived in Greensboro, Athens and Waycross before attending the University of Georgia, where he received a degree in journalism. He began his newspaper career as a reporter for The Macon Newsin Macon, GA. He was a reporter, wire editor and fishing columnist there before joining The Atlanta Journal in 1967. During 31 years at the Journal, Salter worked as a copy editor, makeup editor, picture editor, and weather columnist. For 24 years he wrote fishing columns and features for the afternoon paper, and the Sunday editions of The Atlanta Journal and Constitution. From 1976 to 1980, Salter traveled the state, writing the Georgia Rambler column. Salter and his Sallye are retired and live in Atlanta. They have three children---Suzanne Alexander of Thomasville, Ga., Laura Braaten of Cazenovia, N.Y., and Charles E. Chuck Salter Jr. of New York, N.Y.and five grandchildren. Read More Read Less
