Charles L ChavisCharles L. Chavis, Jr., is Assistant Professor of Conflict Analysis and Resolution and History and Director of the Program for History, Justice and Racial Reconciliation, at the School for Conflict Analysis and Resolution, George Mason University. Beore joining S-CAR, he served as the Museum Coordinator for the Lillie Carroll Jackson Civil Rights Museum in Baltimore, Maryland. He received his Ph.D. in history from Morgan State University in 2018 and his Masters of Theological Studies from Vanderbilt University in 2014. His research has been featured in both academic and popular publications including Black Perspectives, Afro-American, Religious Education, and the International Bulletin of Missionary Research . He is the author of the forthcoming book ' Maryland, My Maryland': The Lynching of Matthew Williams and the Politics of Racism in the Free State and is currently working on a collective biographical history focusing on the ecumenical and interracial social justice leaders of the early civil rights movement in Maryland.
