He has two children, Phillip and Lauren, and four grandchildren, Gabriela, Akilah, Maxwell, and Rue. He is a graduate of Bowie State University with Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration and a Master of Public Administration. He has also earned a Juris Doctor from the University of the District of Columbia, David A. Clarke School of Law.
