Cathy McAllisterCathy McAllister is a well-known speaker having given presentations at the Michigan Chapter of National Association of Social Workers (MI-NASW and Victim Offender Mediation Association (VOMA). For over thirty years, she has spoken on or taught audienes in many topics, such as grief/loss/changes in life, stress and anger management, relationships, emotional care of self and finding the silver lining in areas where despair, anxiety and drudgery are often the prevalent feelings and thoughts. Another area where hope, acceptance, and knowledge are shared and encouraged is as support group creator and facilitator. These include Chronic Illness, Transplant Support Group, Diabetes, ALS, Sex Addict Anonymous, Bible Study and others. She was named employee of the year at Foote Hospital, Jackson, MI, Volunteer of the Month, Jackson, MI, and Social Worker of the Year by Mission of Hope Cancer Fund. Participating as a mediator in Landlord/Tenant and Small Claims cases was an opportunity to utilize and learn additional skill. Enjoyment comes in the form of traveling, reading, coloring, work puzzles, writing, sharing knowledge, family time and volunteering in a variety of areas.
