Cathy Marley

Cathy MarleyCathy Marley is an award-winning freelance writer/author, entrepreneur, wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She lives a contented life in Phoenix, Arizona, with Norm, her soul mate and husband of over forty-four years. Fur babies Jake ad Molly the dogs, Sugar the cat, and Joe the cat who thinks he is a dog, make for an exciting household. Cathy and Norm's extended family includes Norm's three (now only two on this side) adult children, seven adult grandchildren, and at last count, fourteen great grandchildren. Having spent the first forty years of her life as an eager reader of other people's words, this former aerospace techie dismissed her creative talents for most of her professional life until she discovered her own voice in midlife. She was first published in Love in Bloom, a creative collection of essays, short stories, and poetry from Women Writers of the Desert. Peeking Over the Edge...views from life's middle, a collection of her own reflections on life as she reached middle-age, followed shortly thereafter. Written for other baby boomers who are not-so-far-over-the-hill, Peeking Over the Edge looks at mid-life as the beginning of life's best half. It is one woman's view of the regrets and triumphs of the past balanced by eager anticipation of a future built on wisdom gained along the way. As a member of Women Writers of the Desert, Cathy formed an enduring friendship with fellow writers Joy Collins and Betts McCalla. That friendship deepened after both Betts and Joy suffered the loss of their husbands and soul mates. As their friend, Cathy sought ways to help them work through their grief and find peace. Her second book, Breathing Again - thoughts on life after loss, arose from that time. It was written from the perspective of someone who wants to understand what a grieving friend is experiencing, and in the truest spirit of friendship, provide love and support as that friend finds his or her way to peace. Asked what inspires her to write, Cathy says, I spent a lifetime learning how to love myself. When I turned fifty, it was as if my whole life's experience came together for me and I saw everything filtered through a more positive light than ever before. Now, it's as if the ideas that have been growing in me for years have finally ripened to the point where I have to give them life. It's a transformation that reaches to my core and demands to be shared. Cathy's website is www.CathyMarley.com Read More Read Less
