She is the Director of Clinical Research and the Associate Director of the Center for Transfusion and Cellular Therapis at Emory University School of Medicine, Associate Director of Apheresis Services at the Aflac Cancer Center and Blood Disorders Service of Children's Healthcare of Atlanta, and the Medical Director of Laboratory and Blood Bank at the Emory Orthopaedic and Spine Hospital in Atlanta, GA. Additionally, she is a Pediatric Hematologist/Oncologist and Blood Banking/Transfusion Medicine Specialist at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta and Emory University. Dr. Josephson has a national/international reputation in pediatric transfusion medicine and blood banking. She has performed extensive research in designing optimal transfusion practices for pediatric patients and advancement of the field through basic, translational and clinical research. She has worked closely with the National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute of the National Institute of Health to advance improving scientific knowledge and research within the field pediatric transfusion.
