Carrie Jane KnowlesThe 2014 Piedmont Laureate in Short Fiction, Carrie Knowles has published widely in both fiction and non-fiction and has won a number of prestigious writing awards, including: Midland Authors Poetry Award, the American Heart Association Heart and Torh Award for Creative Journalism, and Glimmer Train's Very-Short Fiction Contest. Her first novel, Lillian's Garden, was selected a summer must read by the North Carolina Arts Council/NC Culture Blogger. Her second novel, Ashoan's Rug, was named one of the top books of 2014 by Salisbury Press. Her non-fiction book, The Last Childhood: A Family Story of Alzheimer's, Three Rivers Press 2000, has been noted as one of the top 100 books written about Alzheimer's. Carrie was born in Detroit.
