Carol A Perkins (a K a Carrots)

Carol A Perkins (a K a Carrots)Hello, I'm a writer at heart. I love to learn, love kids and their honesty, and their excitement to promote change for the better. I love all animals, respect the environment and love to have fun. I also believe every living thing on this planet is hre working together for a reason. We all have a purpose and the more we learn about the purpose each of us have, the more we, as humans, can work together to protect those most vulnerable.Working over 40 years in a business career as an analyst was truly exciting and challenging. However, I found there were so many other things I hadn't learned about, like environmental awareness, animal protection and the impact each species has on our planet, to name a few. I remember when my family was young, we shared many experiences like travelling, taking in museums, theatrical performances, theme parks, zoos and even dinosaur excavating. It was just like being a kid again. I had just as much fun as they did. Sharing those wonderful experiences inspired me to incorporate my desire to explore different subjects, and my passion for writing into the creation of a series of enjoyable, educational books for kids; to help them learn about absolutely everything under the sun and beyond. Recognizing we, as the human race, need to respect our planet and understand the role we play in preserving it for our future generations, I chose to focus my first series on Endangered Species. Sadly, there are so many, that I could spend the rest of my life writing about the importance of each. My intention is to create informative books in a unique manner, bringing together proven facts and information that will help kids who do not have the time nor desire to read a large amount of material with complicated words and concepts, and present them in a way they can easily and quickly be read and understood. My hope is that it will also encourage their continuous learning.Being a grandmother, I realize some people of my generation may not be as open to change as younger ones. Our children and grandchildren are more open to change and new scientific discoveries that impact our planet. They want to correct mistakes of the past, as they have a significant interest in preserving the health of our planet. That is why I chose a younger age group; one that will shape the future.I look forward to researching and writing about many endangered species and hopefully spread the awareness of their value to encourage a more positive approach worldwide to protect them, as they do play a significant role in our survival. Why a.k.a. Carrots?I feel that if we present large amounts of technical or challenging information in a more simplified and enjoyable manner, it encourages people to read. Interaction between fun characters and illustrations such as those presented in my book(s) help to explain those challenging and/or technical concepts, and also helps us to remember what we learned. As kids, my siblings and I would always raid my mother's garden. Peas were the favourite. I ate so many one day, I was violently ill for over a day and consequently could not eat another garden pea. Not to be left out of the raids, I had to pick another vegetable. The next best one was carrots. The only drawback was that I had to clean the dirt off the carrot first, but found spitting on it, then wiping it on my pants worked really well. Because of all the carrots I ate, that became my nickname, and it has stuck with me ever since. It's kind of a fun name, and I like to have fun. I have always loved learning about all sorts of stuff and having a bit of fun while doing it helps me to better understand what I'm reading. It also helps me to remember it too. I hope you have fun as well, discovering interesting things about endangered species and why we need to protect them. Read More Read Less
