She has worked in information technology for over twenty years as a consultant specializing in project and chnge management. A voracious reader, author, and mental health advocate, Carmela actively supports a number of organizations and institutions and provides support to mental health caregivers through her voluntary work with BeyondBlue (www.beyondblue.com.au) and Deakin University, as an expert panel member to establish guidelines for carers. She founded an online community to support mental health carers in Australia and across the globe called A Black Dog About the House. Carmela co-authored Grief Diaries: Grieving for the Living, where she shares her story of supporting a partner with depression. Carmela has retrained, turning her focus to health and well-being. She is the director and Usui Reiki Master/Teacher of Soulworks Essential Therapies.
