Carl G Carlozzi

Carl G CarlozziThe Rev. Canon Carl G. Carlozzi, D. Min. (1940-2017) was a beloved minister with the Episcopal Church for five decades and the Chaplain of the Phoenix Fire Department for over twenty years. He has written numerous books, all of which invite the reade to examine their religious assumptions. His love of diversity and quest for peace always inspired his writing. As he was fighting esophageal cancer, he still found time to write this remarkable narrative, challenging the literal interpretations of the Bible. In it, Father Carl calls into question living a life, trapped by the narrow constraints of biblical literalism, yet he encourages using the 'Word of God' to live a moral and just life. Father Carl was born in Canton, Ohio, in 1940, and graduated from Kenyon College in Gambier, Ohio, in 1962. He received his Master of Divinity from the Episcopal Theological School in Cambridge, Mass, in 1965, and his Doctor of Ministry from Luther Rice Seminary, in 1977. In 1999, he received the 'Hon Kachina Award' from Luke's Men and ABC 15 for Outstanding Volunteerism in Arizona. He served as a member of FEMA AZ Task Force 1 and was deployed to Oklahoma City and the World Trade Center. He has touched many lives, with his inclusive ministry of treating all people with dignity and respect. Read More Read Less
