These ultimately provided a rich source of background material on which to draw as an author, resulting in the full-length family sagas A Necessary Fiction and the sequel A Plain and Simple Truth published under the name Jane Emerssen.Brought up on a diet of second-hand Argosy magazines, Isaac Asimov and Arthur C Clarke, Dacre returned to the world of the imagination with Walking in Darkness, a miscellany of previously published and unpublished science fiction short stories. Aphrochrome was originally drafted several years ago and left sitting on the back burner while other projects took centre stage.
