While completing his graduate studies at Brandeis University, he focused on Mesoamerican political economy and terrain modeling applications for understanding territoriality His ield research has involved projects on Pre-Columbian and historic sites in Mexico and the United States; LIDAR, multispectral, and synthetic aperture radar analysis in Japan, Jordan, Romania, and the U.S.; and tourism management studies at World Heritage Sites in Peru and Romania.
