This commentary is not intended to be used by others to interpret or explain the HISOP, to interpret or explain other Standards of Practice (SOPs), or to reduce or expand the scope of the HISOP. In the event of a discrepancy or conflict between this commentary and the HISOP, the HISOP shall govern. Many home inspection SOPs are based on a version of the HISOP.
