She was born in Scotland in 1877 and went on to study history and literature at the University of Edinburgh. Broster is best known for er historical fiction, which often features strong female protagonists and explores the lives of ordinary people during times of great social and political change. Gerald Warrener Taylor was an English writer and journalist who also wrote under the pseudonym C.R. Benstead. He was born in 1890 and studied at Cambridge University before beginning his career in journalism.
