Brent RogersBrent Rogers received a bachelor's degree in biology from William Penn College and has spent his 30-year career in food research & development. Simultaneously, he has exercised his keen interest in conservation and history as a nonprofit volunteer. Fremost among them has been the National Wild Turkey Federation. He has served the organization in elected or designated positions at the local, state, and national levels. He is on the Hall of Fame committee for the Grand National Callmaking Competition and provides educational seminars. Fusing his professional and personal pursuits led to Rogers researching the history of wild turkeys and turkey hunting culture in North America. As a freelance outdoor writer, his articles have appeared in various magazines; he co-authored his first book with George Denka in 2023: the Turkey Call and Literature Collector's Guide. Growing up on a farm and keeping a small flock of domestic bronze turkeys led to Rogers' fascination with the species; that appreciation was deepened through discovering the American wild turkey upon its local restoration. Born to a hunting tradition, he also practices active stewardship of natural resources through conservation work. He curates thousands of wild turkey items: calls, books, magazines, catalogs, audio and video material, clothing, and art. Rogers believes that theknowledge and stories of generations of hunters and biologists enhance the hunting experience and deepen our appreciation for the wild turkey. Built upon a foundation of faith and family, Rogers has resided in rural Iowa his entire life. He has been married to his wife, Renee, for 26 years. The couple has raised two children: a son, Cyrus, and a daughter, Hannah. In his leisure time, he enjoys food preservation, family, reading, and traveling coast to coast in pursuit of the wild turkey and related collectibles. Read More Read Less
