Bokhabinyana Radiance Lovelight

Bokhabinyana Radiance LovelightBorn in Randfontein, South Africa, December 30, 1985, Bokhabinyana, "Khabi," found herself growing up in a world of Apartheid, fear, tension, anxiety, violence and Church. Life for black people was - and still is - a constant struggle and it put peope under a vast amount of pressures and as she grew older, she soon became aware that all was not right with her life. Khabi and her brothers and sisters were brought up by their Aunty Susan in Meadowlands, Soweto, in their Mother's attempt to give them the opportunity grow up in a safer environment and get a better education. However, things weren't much better there and Susan's sister, Sakie, got shot in the back of the head - by the police - as she had not quite made it into her home before curfew. Khabi's world was full of injustices and pain, which left an indelible mark on her psyche...the mental-spiritual survival, understanding and forgiveness of which is honestly and heart-rendingly shared in her work. Khabi first read her poetry live in the UK, at WOA! Art Gallery in Southend on sea, Essex. "Poetry has always been my form of personal therapy so when I wrote "The love I longed to know" it was my way of airing out the toxic emotional baggage I had carried with me throughout childhood into adulthood. The fermented feelings were automatically bubbling over and leaking into every aspect of my life so I came to a point where I could no longer block it out or make it an excuse. The moment I took responsibility and addressed the fear & sadness that was hiding within the anger I felt and expressed, was the moment I found strength, healing, understanding and forgiveness within myself. As a result I was able to gradually let go of the pain...My hope is that this expression of me inspires you to face the issues within you that have kept you from finding healing, forgiveness, understanding and closure." - Bokhabinyana. Aged just 30 years young, Khabi tragically died on her 8th Anniversary, at 8 months pregnant, after a neighbour with severe mental-health issues set fire to their flat, while her husband, "Judah" was out promoting his own book. "SPIRIT WORDZ" is the compilation of poetry, with accompanying photographs and notes, that Bokhabinyana had selected to be made into a book - and was still working on - just days before the fire. As one reads her poetry, it becomes quite apparent that Khabi had a very deep understanding of life and the universe and that she even had some prophetic skills, writing about her spirit rising out of the "burning flames of illusion" in her poem, "Rising Phoenix." Also the fact that English was not her 1st language, but rather her 5th, speaking Tswana, Zulu, Sotho and Xhosa before learning English and some Afrikaans, makes her expression in English all the more impressive. "These poems are the legacy of a true angel. They're priceless pearls of wisdom, many of which are nothing short of masterpieces, conveying universe-sized revelations, prophecies and guidance, all expressed in a most pure and innocent way. A beautiful, enlightening mix of almost deifying affirmations, heart-breakingly honest accounts and jaw-dropping insight, discussing forgiveness, life, love, unity, the system, technology, eternity, God, freedom, culture and self. Let khabi's sweet voice be heard, for I really cannot over-emphasize the importance and poignancy of these true "Spirit Wordz" of eternal lovelight!!!" - Judah. Judah is proud and delighted to have sold nearly all of the 75 copies of his late-wife's work, that he designed, edited and self-published, while also getting copies stocked in Waterstones Bookshop.
