At these open houses, there is always a Realtor or agent greeting people near the entrance, welcoming the visitor. After touring the house and seeing what he considers poor design, the author usually will engage the agent, stating his professional opinion. In the process of opening the door to casual conversation, the agent will often open up and say, Yes, this item has been mentioned by other potential buyers. There are two types of wrong design possible on the buyer's mind: - The first is the obvious: Why do you have the dining room table with seating for twelve next to an island with seating for eight? - The second is the design flaw where a buyer says, I don't like this but I don't know why. This may be because all of the kitchen wall cabinets have glass doors, the island has no seating or there is no island at all. They may see the master bath with the washbasins so close together that there is little counter space, or the foot of the bed faces the entry door of the bedroom.
