Bijay MishraDr. Bijay Mishra (16 July 1936 - 26 May 2020) was a distinguished playwright, scriptwriter and director of Odia plays and films. He had written over 60 plays, 55 film scripts and many TV serials. He came to limelight as a playwright in 1960 with his irst play 'Janani' which was staged in Annapurna Theatre, Cuttack. His widely acclaimed play "Tata Niranjana" has been translated in Hindi, Nepali, Kannada and in several other Indian languages which won him a national award from All India Radio in 1979. His two directed films "Jajabara" and "Rajanigandha" are highly acclaimed films of Odia cinema. His awards and hohours include 1968 State Sangeet Natak Academy award for "Saba Bahakamane", 1980 Odisha Sahitya Akademi award for "Jadukara", 2013 Sahitya Akademy award for "Banaprastha", and an honorary Doctorate degree from Utkal University of Culture, Bhubaneswar.
