Bhalchandra M. Bhanage
Bhalchandra M. Bhanage is the Head and Professor of Industrial and Engineering Chemistry in the Department of Chemistry at the Institute of Chemical Technology, Mumbai, India. He obtained his PhD from the National Chemical Laboratory, India, in 195 and subsequently held various positions at Tohoku University and Hokkaido University in Japan. Prof. B.M. Bhanage’s research focuses on the green synthesis of nanomaterials and their applications across various fields, with a focus on catalysis. He has made significant contributions to catalysis for the activation of small molecules such as carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide, and hydrogen for various reactions. Additionally, he has developed novel strategies for reactions including Heck, Suzuki, Sonogashira coupling reactions, their carbonylative forms, hydroformylations, aminocarbonylations, alcoxycarbonylations, aminations, hydrogenations, among others.
