Beverly J FlemingBeverly J. Fleming was the Director of the Environmental Education Resource Council of NE Florida. A self-taught naturalist, she was also an award winning photographer and writer. Her columns and articles appeared in several of the NE area newspapers Beverly and her husband lived on 2-1/2 acres bordering a magnificent salt marsh on the Intracoastal Waterway in St. Johns County, Florida. They landscaped their property with many native species of plants to attract area wildlife. Daily observations gave her many subjects to write about in her columns. Her work as a St. Johns Park Naturalist, a volunteer Junior Garden Club Leader, and a public speaker helped her to educate others about the unique environment of the St. Johns River watershed area. Beverly passed away on May 23, 2016. She was a beloved longtime resident of St. Johns County and played a key role in numerous organizations with a focus on nature. Of her many awards the one she was most proud of was the coveted Stetson Kennedy Foundation's Fellow Man and Mother Earth Award (2015). Her love of butterflies inspired many, young and old.
