Beverley DouglasBeverley Douglas was born to Jamaican parents in Bristol in 1964. She grew up in a loving home with her older siblings. With very few recreation facilities at that time, children played on bomb sites or in the street. Concerned parents lobbied the loal authority and a safe play space was provided for all children. The disused colliery and stone yard around the corner from her house was transformed. In 1972, Felix Road Adventure Playground was opened and Beverley has fond childhood memories of the times she spent enjoying the freedom of this special place.At a young age, Beverley experienced racism and had to flee for her safety whilst walking home from a youth club. She also encountered many challenges within the education system, but that didn't stop her becoming a police officer. In 1983 she joined the Avon and Somerset Special Constabulary. Five years later she joined the Regulars. After more than three decades of an enjoyable, sometimes challenging career, she retired in 2017.
