Idris obtained his BSc degree in Industrial Chemistry from the Ekiti State University (Ado Ekiti, Nigeria) and MSc and PhD degrees from the University of Johannesburg (Johannesburg, South Africa). He is the recipient of a Doctorate Student Aard for his oral presentation at the 2017 South African Chemical Institute. He specializes in the synthesis, characterization, and application of smart nanomaterials for sensors, biosensors, photocatalysis, photoelectrochemical degradation, and water treatment. He has published over 20 research articles in high-impact journals. He is a reviewer for many Elsevier journals and an examiner at the University of Witwatersrand (Johannesburg, South Africa).
