Aya ShabarekAya Shabarek received a Bachelor's Degree in English and a Master's Degree in Elementary and Special Education. She is currently pursuing a certification in nature-based education. Searching for children's books that positively represent children wit disabilities is something that she practiced in her graduate teaching program and it is part of the inspiration behind this book. Since she was a little girl, she has loved reading and spent much of her childhood in her local public library. In her teaching experience, she has always utilized books as a way to connect with her students. She is a mother to two children and has striven to foster a love of reading and books in them since the day they were born. They have inspired her in countless ways, and despite her son being nonverbal, he has taught her that there are so many ways to engage in reading and interact with books.
