Ashley Thorpe is a senior lecturer in Drama at Royal Holloway, University of London. Previous research has focused on Chinese xiqu specifically jingju ('Peking Opera'), drawing upon an interdisciplinary mix of historical studies, translation, ethnomusicology and anthropology.
