Artur SolomonovArtur Solomonov, born in 1976 in Khabarovsk, Russia, is a writer, journalist, playwright and theatre critic. He has lived in Moscow since 1993 and studied theatre studies. He completed his studies with a dissertation on Dostoevsky and Contemporary Thatre.After graduating, he spent a year in Berlin studying German theatre. After returning to Moscow, Solomonov began his career as a theatre critic. Over a thousand of his reviews and columns, including interviews with prominent figures in European and Russian theatre, appeared in influential Moscow media (the magazines Theatre and Theatre Life, the newspapers Gazeta, Izvestia and Vedomosti). A few years later, he became editor-in-chief of the culture section of New Times magazine, as well as head of the special projects and public relations department of Culture TV.In 2010, he began work on his first novel, A Theatrical Story, in India. Set in one of Moscow's leading theatres, it responds to the painful and problematic facets of modern Russian reality, including the overarching influence of the Orthodox Church, homophobia and the eternal dependence of the 'little man' on those in power. More than a hundred reviews of the novel have appeared so far in Russia and abroad. Solomonov then wrote the controversial political play God's Grace. It was awarded one of the main prizes at the 8th Biennale of Dramatic Arts in London, the best political and social play.
