Armelle LeclerqBorn in Paris in 1973, Armelle Leclerq spent the first two years of her life in Iraq. After a period in Brittany, she grew up in Auvergne, living for 15 years in the town of Riom. The study of contemporary literature brought her to Paris, to the Écol normale supérieure, where she passed the prestigious agrégation exam; to INALCO, the national institute for Eastern languages and cultures, where she completed a bachelor's degree in Arabic; and to the Université de Paris-Sorbonne Nouvelle, where she completed a PhD in medieval French literature in 2006. In 2000, she became seriously interested in contemporary poetry and read everything she could find. Henri Poncet and Comp'Act editions kindly published her first collection, Pataquès, in 2005. Several other collections followed: Vélo vole in 2008 and Paysage à rebours in 2012, and Les Equinoxiales in 2014--following a residency at the Maison de la poésie in Rennes--and Les Arbres in 2016, written thanks to an Itinéraire grant from the Aquitaine region.
