Aqiil M GopeeAqiil M. Gopee is a Mauritian writer and poet. His first book, La Pièce, was published in April 2012 by Edilivre Paris. His subsequent books, Fantômes and Orgasmes, came out in 2013. In 2014, he was proclaimed laureate of he Prix du jeune écrivain de langue française in France for his short story "Loup et Rouge," a re-writing of the tale of the "Little Red Riding Hood." Other awards include a special mention by Prix du Livre d'Or for La Pièce in 2011 and by Prix de Poésie Point Barre in 2013. He was named best writer by the National Drama Festival of Mauritius that same year and was awarded the Laureate of the Prix International du Jeune Écrivain de Langue Française for the short stories "La Porte en Fer" in 2016 and "Insectarium" in 2023.
