April Voytko KemplerA native Californian, April Kempler was raised in beautiful downtown Burbank. April currently resides in her "adopted" city of Reno, Nevada. April Voytko Kempler's first book The Altered I: Memoir of Holocaust Survivor Joseph Kempler is a first-perso narrative that tells the story of her father-in-law's experience as a Holocaust survivor. As a Jewish teen, Joseph Kempler survived six different concentration camps, some of them death camps, throughout Poland and Austria. He later converted to a Christian faith because of what he witnessed in the camps. The Altered I chronicles this life-altering decision. When April isn't writing she can usually be found with her nose in a book. As an avid reader she has more books than she can ever read in this lifetime. During the summer months she volunteers with the Historic Reno Preservation Society serving as a walking tour guide through the historic neighborhoods of Reno. April Voytko Kempler also is the co-host of The Book Hound radio show which strives to introduce debut and emerging authors, as well as those best selling favorites, to readers.
