Anne Rankin MahoneyAnne Rankin Mahoney is Emeritus Professor of Sociology at the University of Denver, in Colorado, where she has taught classes and written extensively on work-family issues, women's studies, and criminology for over 30 years. She has a Ph.D. in Sociolgy from Columbia University in New York. Anne is a small town girl from Western Pennsylvania, a member of the 'silent generation, ' naïve in 1959 in her desire to become a college teacher. She graduated from Meadville High School in Pa. and Kent State University in Ohio, then enrolled at Northwestern University near Chicago -where her memoir begins and she finds herself in a nearly all-male world. Anne Rankin, the author of Both Career and Love, was in 1961, the second employee of the Vera Institute of Justice in New York. She includes material in her book about her work on Vera's first two bail reform projects, including the groundbreaking Manhattan Bail Experiment in Manhattan.
