Though she enjoyed quieter fame than her older brother, Anna grew up to be a giftd writer as well. Anna Buchan published her first novel in 1912 under the pen name O. Douglas-a pseudonym she maintained for most of her life. Many of her novels are set in the landscape of her own life, the Scottish Borders.
