Ann Florence DoddAs a children's author, Ann Florence Dodd wants to use her storytelling to highlight subjects such as environmental issues, but not written as a serious subject as such, but rather in a form of a fun adventure. Ann wants to bring a sense of responsiblity to children with her writing. By using humour and entertainment, she hopes it will help children have a greater understanding of the importance of protecting their world, both now and in the future. She was born in Birmingham, England, and lived there until her mid-twenties. Then she moved back to her father's home island of Guernsey, in the Channel Islands, along with her family to help run their family hotel. Ann has worked as a prison officer, and a childcare officer in a children's home. Both these occupations have taught Ann much about human resilience and has been part of her motivation to write. Animal welfare and the environment have always been a huge part of Ann's life. After moving to Cyprus six years ago, she has worked and volunteered for some animal charities who care for a variety of neglected animals in Cyprus. Ann's first book Birdie is about an isolated caged bird. This book was written from her experiences of caring for vulnerable children and animals. Her wish is that her work brings joy into some children's lives and a better understanding of certain aspects of life. Read More Read Less
