Allen ZimmermanAllen Zimmerman was born and brought up in Thailand and was educated at an international school in South India, Oberlin College, and Columbia University. He received training in Chinese Mandarin at the Army Language School and was stationed in Taiwan While pursuing graduate studies at Columbia University, he conducted research in Chinese poetry at Kyoto University on a Fulbright grant. He has taught at Connecticut College, Case Western Reserve University, the Osaka College of Art, and the Cleveland Institute of Art, where he also served as teaching Dean of Students. Courses under his instruction have included Classical Chinese Language, Chinese Literature in Translation, Ways of Thought: East and West, Brushworks: Creativity and Taoism, Classical Chinese Poetry, and Traditional Japanese Literature.
