Alex VarenneBorn in Saint-Germain-au-Mont-d'Or in 1939, Alexandre Varenne began teaching drawing in the early 60s. Chronique de la Oil Mar, written by his brother Daniel, was his first comic book. In 1979, he published the first pages of Ardeur in CharlieMensuel, an expressionist series strongly influenced by the light and shade of interwar German cinema. Four years later, he embarked on a series of more or less "stripped down" portfolios on his own. At the same time, he entered the world of eroticism at L'Echo des Savanes. He never left. In 1988, he renewed his partnership with his brother, drawing an adaptation of Fritz Zorn's very dark novel Angoisse et Colère. At the same time, he created the dreamlike Erma Jaguar, a heroine who loves sex a lot and men a little less. His interest in eroticism continued with Les Larmes du sexe and L'Art Erotique. In 1996, Attention Femmes joined the short stories Varenne had drawn for the Fripons series, which he regularly delivered to Playboy and Penthouse Comics. He died in Paris on October 19, 2020.
