Alejandro Romero MartínezDr. Alejandro Romero, PhD in Biological Sciences by the University of Vigo (2000), is tenured Associate Professor of Toxicology. He received his PhD with First Class Honours for his studies on cadmium toxicity and neuroprotective actions of melatonin He has made important contributions in: i) the cell/molecular biology of new multitarget compounds synthesized against key targets in Alzheimer disease ii) Showing new toxicological data on several xenobiotics (Pyrethroid Insecticides, metals and mycotoxins) and iii) Advances in the knowledge of melatonin as pleiotropic agent against several pathologies and mechanisms of toxicity. In this context, including relevant contributions to understanding the multiple functions of melatonin and its relevance in several physiopathological processes. His research activity has resulted in 90 Journal Citation Reports articles (h-index 35), 77 in the last 10 years (2011-2021), and 25 related with melatonin. He is also co-author of 12 international book chapters and 4 nationals. Moreover, he co-authors > 50 international and > 50 national congress communications and 2 patents.
