He earned a B.S. in Electronic Engineering and an M.S. in lectrical Engineering from the Instituto Tecnológico de La Laguna in Torreón, México, in 1993 and 1997, respectively, and a Ph.D. in Automatic Control from the Université de Technologie de Compiègne in Compiègne, France, in 2002.
